Paintings 2015-17

Moving to Cornwall in 2013 introduced me to new influences and it seems almost impossible to live in Cornwall without being immersed and strongly influenced by the Cornish landscape. Starting the process of painting after a break of 40 years I began work on a series of studies of large pebbles found on the local beach at Porthcurnick. These studies provide the neutral subject matter which allowed me to focus on the act of painting.

Moving on from this I continued working on the shoreline with paintings of abandoned boats beached in the backwaters of the Fal estuary. And later, the fishing boats in the small Porth (harbour) at Portscatho.
